Part 1- Hacking Your Phone

It is imperative that you hack your phone to be able to play N-Gage with its cr@cked games. Here is what is to be done:

Note- If you get CAN NOT INSTALL, COMPONENT IS BUILT IN error, Then try the Hello carbide method

First install the appropriate version of AppTRK for your phone.

I presume so already have Nokia PC Suite/Nseries PC Suite on your PC. Connect your phone to your PC via ‘PC Suite’ mode, and open the AppTRK. Coonect it in usb mode instead of bluetooth.

Now Run SecMan.exe and follow the given instructions and complete the installation to to finally get SecMan on your phone.

Open SecMan on your phone. From options, click on ‘Turn Plat. Security Off’ to activate this app’s capabilities, and also click on ‘Install Root Certificate’ for later purposes.

Hello Carbide Hack for NEWER firmwares & Phones like

Install HelloCarbide. Don’t open it yet.

Open Caps On/ Off from zip

preFP1_CapsOnOff.rar for SymbianOS 9.1 (Pre-FP1 Phones)

FP1_CapsOnOff.rar for SymbianOS 9.2 (FP1 as well as FP2 Phones)

extract the contents of the archive to your phone but DO NOT OPEN!

Open xplore, leave it open in the background.

Open HelloCarbide, select Options -> Menu1. You should get a message saying “done… Probably”. Select ‘Yes’.

Open xplore from the background. Navigate to where you extracted the Caps On/Off files and copy the file CProfDriver_SISX.ldd to C:\sys\bin

Restart your phone and install Caps On and Caps Off.

Now you’ll have access to system directories, whenever you select the application “Caps Off”. To turn off system file access, open the application “Caps On”.

To install files without signing or using SignSis, use these files:

installserver.exe for Symbian OS 9.1 (Pre-FP1 Phones)

installserver.exe for Symbian OS 9.2 (FP1 as well as FP2 Phones)

installserver.exe for Nokia 3250, 5500, E50, E61 (Pre-FP1 Phones)

Make sure you have system directories. If not, open the “Caps Off” application.

Copy proper installserver.exe to C:\sys\bin

You’re done! Now you can install unsigned apps and apps with expired certificates without any signing nonsense. No more SymbianSigned, no more SignSis!

Part 2- Installing NGAGE application on your phone

Step 1-
Install the ngage launcher that i’m providing on your memory card.

Ignore the application not compatible error or symbian os pips missing error. This may take 5-6 minutes. Please be patient.

Step 2-
Install the symbian os pips V1.02 to memory card that i’m providing after completion of ngage installer.
Note- N78, N96, 5320 users don’t install pips

Step 3-
Now copy the 20001079.txt file that i’m providing according to your respective phone model and version to the folder c:/private/10202be9 with any file manager. For example xplore.

This is not required for any Nseries phone and 5320. They already have landscape mode.

NOTE- The one from Landscape for 5700,6110,6120.rar- 4 those phones in file name, rest FP1 and FP2 phones

For all phones except Officially compatible phones and Nseries phones, games can be played in portrait mode using file 20001079.txt given in ngage all files and installservers.rar

TO DO THIS, YOU MUST TURN PLATFORM SECURITY OFF / CAPS OFF TO SEE PRIVATE FOLDER.

Step 4-
Now install patch file that i have provided to memory card. THIS STEP IS MUST IF YOU WANT PROPER GAMEPLAY. For this add proper installserver to c:/sys/bin

PATCH INSTALLATION IS MUST FOR EVERY PHONE, EVEN FOR N81, N82, N95

Step 5-
Now open the ngage application, do nothing and exit it. After doing this, go to xplore and you will a folder created named e:/n-gage. Exit xplore.

Step 6-
Get an .n-gage game file from download links given in my next post.
Now copy the .n-gage game file to e:/n-gage with xplore, after this close xplore.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SHOULD COPY THE FILE, YOU SHOULD NOT MOVE IT TO THAT FOLDER.

Step 7-
Now turn the platform security on / caps on and leave it running in the background. Launch ngage application. Installation of game will automatically start. Install it on memory card. After installation finishes, Simply launch the game by clicking start game. Game will start in about 10-15 seconds. Enjoy gaming.

Tested with my 5700, 6120 and n73me.

Part 3- Getting the application to work on non-compatible
phones in Landscape mode like 5700, 6110, 6120

Download Landscape for 5700,6110,6120.rar and extract 20001079.txt from it.
Send the file to your phone.

Open X-Plore and copy the ‘20001079′ to the following location C:\Private\10202be9\20001079.txt

Search out the file C:\Private\10202be9\persists\20001079.cre and delete it.

N80 and 3250 users don’t delete this .cre file

You can now turn Platform Security back on in SecMan or CapsOn in hellocarbide method. To install a game simple run its exe file on pc and extract and then copy its *.n-gage file to the Ngage folder on your memory card (Detailed description given below)

Time Saving Procedure to install Ngage Games on your phone

Open the .exe file of ngage game you want to install on pc.

Don’t connect your mobile to your pc.

When you get a window asking you if you already have metro trk n ngage application, click on both n proceed.

New window will appear saying that metro trk port not found.

Don’t worry. Simply click on extract n-gage file to pc. In a second or two, you will find n-gage game file in the same folder.

Now simply copy this file on your phone to e:/n-gage folder n installation will start once you open ngage application from your phone. That’s it. Done.

Frequently asked questions

1) Is hacking must?

Answer- yes it is, if you don’t hack, neither you can paste the text file nor you can install the patch.

2) On n73, when i launch app, i’m getting message- you need to download newer version, download now? If i say yes, it says you already have newer version, no update needed. If i say no, app exits, what should i do?

Answer- for this hacking is must. Ngage application gets installed on n73 even if it is not hacked but can’t proceed.

3) Everything worked fine for me but when i tried to launch game, screen went blank and it returned back to ngage home screen. What should i do?

Answer- this is because of low ram. Ngage is an application that eats a lot ram. Remove any background application from phone that eats ram such as antivirus, call recorder, full screen caller etc n free some ram.

New SMS symbols-special characters

Wanna use ☺☻♥ ♠ symbols in your text message, follow the steps bellow…

1. Download the attached Text File
2. Copy to your phone (any memory)
3. X-plore the file and press-8 to edit the .txt file
4. Select the Characters as shown in the screenshot2(ignore the ? Marks-select all) and press PENCIL key to copy
5. Now exit x-plore and go to new text message composer
6. Paste the selected characters in the text field and save the message in DRAFTS.
7. Now all done… You don’t need the .txt file anymore – delete it.
8. You can use these symbols by simply opening the draft and select the symbols (say Heart in ♥ symbol) and paste in your new text message.

Access points are stored in C:\Private\10202be9\persists\cccccc00.cre. Just make a copy of cccccc00.cre, and restore it to your phone (or send it to another phone), restart your phone, and you have your access point settings back just the way they were when you made the backup.

BLUETOOTH:
Your bluetooth name is in C:\Private\10202be9\persists\10204dac.cre, your paired devices are in C:\Private\100012a5\DBS_100069CC_btregistry.

BOOKMARKS:
The bookmarks of Symbian’s built-in web browser are stored in C:\Private\100012a5\DBS_101FD685_BrowserBookmarks.db.

CALENDAR:
Calendar entries are stored in C:\Private\10003a5b\Calendar.

COOKIES:
The cookies of Symbian’s built-in web browser are in C:\Private\101f8530\cookies.dat. Restart your phone after restoring or transfering the cookies file. If you’ve told your browser to delete your cookies, there is no cookies.dat file in C:\Private\101f8530.

MESSAGES:
Your SMSs and mails from Symbian’s built-in messaging application are stored in C:\Private\1000484b. If you’ve told your phone to store messages on your memory card, they are in E:\Private\1000484b. Copy the entire folder, and restore when needed.

NOTES:
The notes you write in Symbian’s Notes application are stored in C:\Private\100012a5\DBS_101F8878_Notepad.dat.
If you can’t delete or replace the file, it’s because Symbian is using it. But there’s a workaround for this problem: go to settings, data manager, memory, and select “back up phone memory” from the options menu. While your phone is making the backup, you can delete or replace the DBS_101F8878_Notepad.dat file.

PROFILES:
Your profiles are stored in C:\Private\10202be9\persists\101f8798.cre. If you restore the backup, restart your phone.

T9 DICTIONARY:

Note:There is huge file in phone, C:/private/102072c4/reserved.bin, 4.5 Mb size of plain 0xff. Delete it and free up phone memory check if your phone has one. The files are for FOTA (firmware over the air) coz when i remove it, and go to the device mgr. App it reapears, so its safe to remove it, we wont need it as we never get any FOTA updates.

Go to MUSIC PLAYER, OPTION, AUDIO SETTINGS, EQUALIZER, OPTION, NEW PRESET, rename following presets below, and set the following points in screen shot. Setting the equalizer it will make your speaker/headset sound loud. Here’s the picture for the settings.

Download Any File Using Default Nokia Browser

Before we get started you need a X-Plore and the latest CorePlayer.

1. Open coreplayer and go to tools in the options then open preferences.

2. On the prefenences page select the LEFT softkey called SELECT PAGE then scroll down and select FILE ASSOCIATIONS.

3. In file assotiations tick the AIF box, then select ok and exit coreplayer.

4. Now open your selected file browser (i use x-plore) and goto this path C:Data and locate the file called coreplayer.ext .

5. Now select optins and edit the coreplayer.ext file, at the top you will see

6. Now we need to edit the ext=”aif” and change it to ext=”rar” then save and exit the file browser.

7. Open the default browser and locate a .rar file to download.

8. Next click on the .rar file to begin download, the download details will open and you will see the download details. On the download details popup it says Hide on the right hand side, you need to select this before the download has finished.

9. Once the file has downloaded a popup opens asking to Open the file or save it for Later, select later.

10. Now in the browser options select Downloads, the downloaded files will then show with the .rar file showing as complete.

11. Select options and then you have 3 choices, select save and then select your save location.

12. The file will save to the path you choose, then to open it you need to launch an app that supports that file (x-plore opens .rar files).

NOTE: The .rar extension was used as a quide, this will work with ANY file, you just need to follow this quide and use another extesion instead of .rar.

If you do not select the Hide option as shown at point 8 the file will still download but upon download coreplayer will open and try to read the file and fail (just exit coreplayer). If this happens you need to download again as shown above or use your file browser and goto C:Systemdmgr and look in the folders to find the file to move it or open it.
